A few words from Dr. H'Sien Hayward
About
Dr. H’Sien Hayward is passionate about helping adult individuals and couples transform and thrive. She believes that therapy has the power to illuminate the true potential of clients, and offers tools to reach that potential.
H’Sien has extensive experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns, and creates culturally-sensitive treatment plans that are individually tailored to each person or couple with whom she works. Her style is warm, thoughtful, and gently challenging. Therapy sessions integrate both insight-oriented and skills-based approaches. H'Sien uses strengths-based and empirically-supported methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
H'Sien received her PhD from Harvard University, completed a postdoctoral respecialization at the California School for Professional Psychology - San Francisco, spent several years training at VA Medical Centers and Kaiser Permanente, and did her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. At Harvard, her award-winning and widely published doctoral research focused on the science of happiness and posttraumatic growth, which informs her clinical practice today.
